He’s been traveling around the country for his latest tour, and during his stint in Los Angeles, CA, Bruce Springsteen met a very special fan.
Xabi Glovsky attended the rock concert with his dad, and it just happened to be on a school night. The nine-year-old is a die-hard fan of The Boss and wasn’t about to miss his show in LA, even if he had to wake up early for class the next day.
Xabi and his dad, Scott, created a sign that read, “Bruce, I will be late to school tomorrow. Please sign my note :-).”
Lucky for Xabi, Springsteen and his crew saw the handmade sign and invited the pair to come visit him backstage after the three-and-a-half hour show.
“Although there were many musicians and celebrities at the concert, we were the first people to see him after the show,” Scott told the Claremont Courier. “Bruce said ‘There’s the big guy’ when he saw my son.”

Springsteen took care of Xabi’s school note and signed a letter letting his teacher know the reason for his tardiness the next morning. It’s also a pretty great souvenir for Xabi after meeting his hero. The note read: “Dear Ms. Jackson,” the note read. “Xabi has been out very late rocking and rolling. Please excuse him if he is tardy!” “Idols rarely live up to your expectations,” Scott said. ”Bruce lived up to every expectation a nine-year-old boy could have—or a 48-year-old boy could have.”
